Voter File - A voter file is a list of all registered voters in an area. In the US most states compile this list under the organization responsible for elections. It is generally available to candidates for office and political organizations for a fee. This is sometimes also known as a Voter Roll.

Voter files can typically be purchased from government agencies (typically from the Registrar of Voters) or vendors. The government database generally only includes information provided directly from the voter registration form, as well as vote history.

Vendors will often add additional information, including phone numbers, ethnicity, and other targetting information. Their voter file, however, may cost over 10 times as much as a government voter file.

Voter files can also be acquired from your state party.

Voterfile are often enhanced by candidate support or turnout scores created through Modeling, which is used as market research for voters.
