Overview
Trainees will receive comprehensive training and instruction from industry experts. The California training will feature content which will be tailored to include specific tools and resources for California-based practitioners. However, most of the curriculum is applicable nationwide. The second training will take place in Washington, DC, August 21-27. NOI's advanced data trainings will run 7 days and 6 nights.
Why this training?
Technology is playing an increasingly central role in advocacy and campaigns in America. The demand for well-trained political data managers is growing quickly and the scope of the work these data managers are expected to oversee is also growing.
For practitioners willing to build their skills and knowledge to match this growing need, this is an exciting and opportunity-rich period in American politics. Current data practitioners use volumes of data from numerous complex data systems and sources to make sure organizers have fresh and relevant information, that directors have hard reports to track the impact of programs, and to ensure money is not wasted on duplicate efforts or bad data.
Stand-alone data managers experience a high degree of frustration as they attempt to juggle the political demands of their organization and stay current with the vast array of new data sources, technology and knowledge. Data managers rarely have dedicated time to learn, and instead resort to deciphering complex manuals, "Googling", and short skills-based trainings. The New Organizing Institute (NOI) believes these methods are a poor substitute for a comprehensive learning curriculum, intense training from expert trainers, long-lasting support from regional coaches, and the real-life workshops needed to manage data at the highest level.
What will be covered?
Trainees will receive comprehensive training and instruction from industry experts on the following data sources, tools, and knowledge areas:
| Data Sources | Tools | Knowledge | ||
