All Your RootsCamp Details in One Place:
We can't wait to see you at RootsCamp! This post is a little long, but it's got all the where, when, what, why and how of RootsCamp. Please make sure you read it through and save it, so that you won't miss any of the key parts or fun activities at RootsCamp this weekend.
Where is RootsCamp? George Washington University's Marvin Center, Third Floor, 800 21st St. NW. The Foggy Bottom stop on the Orange and Blue lines is the closest Metro stop. There is limited parking, so we encourage you to use public transportation.
When do I need to get there? Registration and coffee will start at 9am on Saturday, December 11th. The Opening Session begins in the Grand Ballroom at 10am -- don't miss it!
How do I post my session? With your help, we'll build "The Wall" (the agenda) during the Opening Session. After we've done introductions, you'll be able to get your session up.
What should I bring? Please help us keep RootsCamp as green as possible by bringing a water bottle and/or coffee mug to help keep waste down. We also recommend a power strip (you'll make so many new friends!), and any chargers you'll need for your computer, phone, etc. If you plan to use a projector, bring your own adaptor. We'll provide some projectors, but not adaptors.
What should I wear? Check the Capitol Weather Gang blog for the latest weather conditions.
Should I tell people about RootsCamp? Yes! Show and tell! You can tweet all your great moments using the hashtag #roots10. You can also send your photos to photos@rootscamp.org and they'll post to RootsCamp.org as well as our Flickr stream.
Will there be food? You bet. We'll serve coffee and lunch on both Saturday and Sunday.
And don't forget the parties! RootsCamp unofficially kicks off on Friday night with a party hosted by our friends at SalsaLabs. Then on Saturday, we'll have the official RootsCamp party at K Street Lounge. Join us!
Will there be internet? Yes, we'll have wireless provided. But remember, the goal of RootsCamp is to learn and share, so we encourage you to spend as much time meeting and interacting with people as you can. Your email will still be there Monday, but RootsCamp won't be.
When will we find out who won the MVO Awards? The finalists in the MVO Awards will be announced on Saturday at the Opening Session, and voting will take place until 5pm that day. Winners will be announced during the Closing Session at 3:45pm on Sunday.
Looking for a job, or some new talent? The Career Fair will be from 12pm-2pm on Sunday. Employers can reserve a free table by Wednesday, December 8.
Still have questions? More details can be found at www.RootsCamp.org. If you have questions during RootsCamp, you can find a volunteer (we'll be wearing RootsCamp t-shirts), or tweet with the hashtag #roots10.
